History of the Faculty of Industrial Technology
The Faculty of Industrial Technology originated as the Handicraft Division under the Faculty of Science and Technology in 1975. Later, it was renamed the Department of Handicrafts and Industrial Arts under the Faculty of Science and Technology at Sakon Nakhon Teachers College, commonly referred to as the “Industrial Arts Department.” Initially, the department offered a bachelor’s degree in education specializing in industrial arts.
In 1991, the department expanded its offerings to include science-related programs, introducing associate degree courses in Industrial Electronics and Construction. With the enactment of the Rajabhat Institute Act in 1995, Sakon Nakhon Teachers College was elevated to Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat Institute.
In 1997, a two-year Bachelor of Science program was introduced. By 1999, the academic structure was reorganized from departments into program clusters. As a result, the Industrial Arts Department became the Industrial Technology Program Cluster. In 2000, two new specializations were introduced: Ceramics and Production Technology.
The Rajabhat University Act of 2004 elevated Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat Institute to Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. Subsequently, the Industrial Technology Program Cluster separated from the Faculty of Science and Technology to form the Faculty of Industrial Technology, in line with the university’s new organizational structure. During the same year, a new specialization in Industrial Management Technology was added.
By 2006, the faculty expanded its curriculum to include new fields such as Civil Technology, Architectural Technology, Industrial Technology, Production Technology, Electronics Technology, and Electrical Technology, all as four-year Bachelor of Science programs.
In 2009, the faculty launched a master’s degree program in Vocational Industrial Management (Master of Arts).
In 2011, a five-year Bachelor of Education program in Industrial Arts and Technology was introduced.
In 2012, five Technology Bachelor’s programs were developed:
Industrial Technology Electrical and Electronics Technology (two-year extension programs) Construction Management Industrial Technology Electrical and Electronics Technology. In 2015, the faculty restructured the Bachelor of Technology program. The six previous specializations were consolidated into two programs:
Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical and Manufacturing Technology Bachelor of Technology in Construction and Architectural Technology. Over time, the Faculty of Industrial Technology has continuously developed its curriculum, enhanced personnel capacity, procured equipment, and improved facilities to align with teaching and learning activities. These efforts aim to meet workforce development needs from the local to the national level. Guided by its philosophy and vision, the faculty is committed to producing and developing excellence in industrial technology professionals, integrating local wisdom to foster community development.
